V-Berth Modification on an NT 26

By Chip Worster — Chip Ahoy, 26-145, Satellite Beach, FL

At the 2006 SENTOA Rendezvous, I saw the modification that Bob Wiggins did on the V-berth on his 26' Nordic Tug, and decided to have a go at it. I used some 3/4" plywood and a few scraps of teak.

I would suggest using heavy wrapping paper or 1/4" plywood to make up a template of the plywood. After you have the plywood cut out you can use that as a template to make your cushion. If you are handy with a sewing machine you can make your own cushion. If not your local canvas shop will help you out. I used four-inch heavy density foam, available at most upholstery shops for the stuffing.
